Weekend Musings: My New Obsession with an orientdig spreadsheet
It’s one of those Saturdays where the city feels like it’s holding its breath. I’m tucked into a corner of my favorite coffee shop, the one with the mismatched chairs and the barista who already knows my order. Outside, the fog is rolling in over the hills, and inside, I’m nursing a flat white that’s just a little too hot. I’ve got my laptop open, but honestly, I’ve been staring at the same spreadsheet for the last ten minutes. Not just any spreadsheet, but this orientdig spreadsheet I’ve been tinkering with all month.
I started it as a way to track my wardrobe, but it’s kind of become my little obsession. Every time I wear something new, or rediscover an old piece, I log it. It sounds nerdy, I know. But there’s something about seeing all your clothes laid out in neat rows and columns that makes getting dressed feel less like a chore and more like a game. Plus, it helps me remember what I actually own, which is a huge plus when I’m standing in front of my closet at 7am.
Speaking of getting dressed, I wore this outfit today that I’ve been meaning to talk about. It’s all thrifted, except for the shoes. I found this oversized wool blazer at a flea market last fall, and it’s been my go-to for those in-between weather days. Underneath, I’ve got a simple white t-shirt and some high-waisted jeans. And then these chunky loafers that I saved up for months to buy. They’re a little scuffed now, which I actually prefer. It gives them character.
I’ve been tracking all of this in my orientdig spreadsheet, of course. I have a column for the item, the brand, the cost per wear, and even a little notes section where I jot down how I felt wearing it. Like, for this blazer, I wrote ‘powerful but cozy.’ For the jeans, ‘classic but soft.’ It’s silly, but it helps me understand my own style better. I’m starting to see patterns: I gravitate toward neutral colors, structured shapes, and anything with a good story.
This spreadsheet has honestly changed the way I shop. Before, I’d buy things on impulse and then regret it a week later. Now, I check my orientdig spreadsheet before I even browse. I ask myself: Do I have something similar? Will I actually wear this? How many times? It’s like having a little voice of reason in my pocket. And it’s saved me so much money and closet space.
I’m also using it to plan my upcoming trip to Japan. I’ve got a whole tab dedicated to packing, with columns for each day, the weather forecast, and the outfit I’m planning. It’s probably overkill, but it makes me feel so organized. I even have a list of local brands I want to check out, cross-referenced with my existing wardrobe to avoid duplicates. The orientdig spreadsheet is basically my travel companion at this point.
Anyway, the coffee’s gone cold and the fog is starting to lift. I think I’m going to head out and wander for a bit. Maybe hit that bookstore on the corner. Or find a new thrift store. Who knows. I’ll probably update my spreadsheet tonight with whatever I find. It’s become a little ritual, and I love it. So if you see me in a coffee shop, staring at my screen with a little smile, just know I’m probably on my orientdig spreadsheet, making sense of my wardrobe, one row at a time.
